Spot gold prices fell sharply in early U.S. trading on Wednesday, with silver also declining amid May's inflation figures remaining elevated above 4 percent. This, combined with higher Treasury yields and ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions affecting energy markets, weighed on precious metals. Gold traded around 4,165.90 dollars per ounce, down 2.20 percent, while silver stood at 64.645 dollars, off 1.06 percent.
