Gold Holds Above $4,200 as US Labor Market Shows Resilience
8/10/2026 · Kitco News

Gold prices have retreated from overnight highs above $4,300 an ounce yet continue to hold firm support above $4,200. This occurs even as US labor market data remains resilient with initial unemployment claims staying low.
The Labor Department reported claims rose by 1,000 to 199,000 for the week ending August 1, closely matching expectations of 203,000. This marks the third consecutive week below 200,000, the longest such streak since March 2023.
Gold shows little reaction to the data and instead draws resilience from ADP's weak July report of just 44,000 private-sector jobs added. Spot gold last traded at $4,265.60 per ounce, up 0.45% on the day.
