Gold Holds After Volatility, Wall Street Cautious Ahead of Fed Move

7/25/2026 · Kitco News

Gold showed volatility this week, rebounding from a drop below $4,000 per ounce on bargain hunting and softer Treasury yields. Robust U.S. labor data and a stronger dollar capped advances, closing the week at $4,051.51.

The Kitco survey found Wall Street bearish or undecided on near-term prospects due to technical barriers and oil-fueled inflation risks, while Main Street remained upbeat after repeated defense of the $4,000 support.

Analysts including Darin Newsom and Adrian Day pointed to range-bound trading or cautious upside from resilience amid tensions, whereas Rich Checkan and Colin Cieszynski stressed risks from potential Fed rate hikes.
