Gold Holds Near Support Levels While Miners Deliver Record Cash Flows

Gold continues to consolidate near $4,000 an ounce amid rising real yields and persistent inflation that sustains elevated interest rates, raising opportunity costs for holding the metal.
Yet gold producers are posting strong results. Second-quarter earnings reflect benefits from average prices above $4,400, enabling robust free cash flow generation and balance sheet improvements.
Agnico Eagle achieved record free cash flow of $1.335 billion and returned $625 million to shareholders while advancing projects like Odyssey and Hope Bay. Kinross generated over $725 million in free cash flow, lifting net cash to $1.9 billion, while Alamos Gold produced $143.5 million despite some guidance reductions. This operational focus positions the sector as an attractive value opportunity compared to high-valuation AI stocks.
