Gold prices declined after revised U.S. employment data revealed a net loss of 79,000 jobs over the year through March 2026. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a preliminary benchmark adjustment of -79,000 (-0.1 percent) for total nonfarm employment and -178,000 (-0.1 percent) for private employment, consistent with the 0.2 percent average over the past decade.

Spot gold fell to an intraday low of $4,543.80 per ounce before trading at $4,564.05, down 0.83 percent. The figures coincided with Fed Chair Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech and final consumer sentiment readings.

Final revisions will be incorporated into official statistics via the January 2027 Employment Situation report, due in February 2027.
