Gold prices steady amid subdued US CPI figures

After a sluggish opening, the gold market gained buying momentum as US inflation pressures stay elevated without accelerating. The CPI rose 0.4% in August following a 0.1% July gain, matching economist forecasts, while core CPI increased 0.3% monthly, slightly above expectations. Annual headline inflation hit 3.4% and core stood at 2.4%. Spot gold reached $4,381.10 per ounce, up over 1.5%.
