Natixis Analyst: Fed Stays on Hold Through 2026 as US Policy Fuels Sovereign Gold Demand

7/16/2026 · Kitco News

Christopher Hodge, Natixis head US economist, expects the Federal Reserve to keep rates unchanged throughout 2026 even as inflation remains its top concern. US sanctions and trade policies are pushing other central banks toward gold and away from the dollar, he noted. Housing accounts for 35% of CPI with subdued readings ahead, while wages at 3–3.5% align with the 2% target. Hodge sees an extended pause as prudent amid external price shocks.
