Newmont Overcomes 13% Gold Price Drop with Record Quarterly Cash Flow and Beats Earnings Forecasts

Leading gold producer Newmont delivered robust second-quarter results that beat market expectations despite the gold price correction. The company posted record free cash flow of $2.2 billion, adjusted earnings of $2.10 per share and revenue of $6.1 billion. Output reached roughly 1.3 million ounces with sales of 1.2 million ounces at a realized price of $4,414 per ounce. CEO Natascha Viljoen stressed operational resilience and the return of $1.9 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks. Costs climbed to $1,621 per ounce amid temporary halts, yet year-to-date figures remain below targets. The firm holds a strong balance sheet with $9 billion in cash and a net cash position of $3.4 billion. Newmont reaffirmed its 2026 guidance of 5.26 million ounces at costs near $1,680 per ounce while advancing projects such as Red Chris.
