One-Third of UK Adults Regret Missing Gold’s 128% Rally – Royal Mint

A Royal Mint survey found that one-third of UK adults regret not investing in gold over the past five years, during which its price rose 128%. Nearly 30% feel the same about silver, up 126%. This coincides with widespread concerns: 73% worry about global conflicts affecting savings, two-thirds are anxious about their financial future, and 53% are unsure where to invest. Regret over missing Bitcoin stands at just 20%.
Yet only 25% plan to allocate savings to precious metals in the next five years, while 60% prefer checking accounts. In the past five years, just 8% held gold and 3% held silver, compared with 63% using bank accounts.
Stuart O'Reilly, Private Wealth Consultant at The Royal Mint, stated: “It’s been an extraordinary period for precious metals, and this research shows that many UK adults are reflecting on the opportunity they may have missed as gold and silver have delivered such strong returns.” He stressed long-term diversification and better financial education, noting 41% of adults lack sufficient knowledge, including 11% who feel completely clueless.
